LeadingGen FAQs

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

Who is this seies intended for?

This series was developed for parents and grandparents in affluent families who want to improve strategy for preparing their family to handle wealth effectively across generations. The Wisdom in Wealth Series offers guidance, including helpful frameworks and tools, to manage these complexities, along with the opportunity to learn from others in similar circumstances.

Who are the instructors?

Our groups are led by people who, like you, are from successful families, so they understand the unique complexities of wealth...AND importantly, they are all trained coaches as well.Although we do teach some tools and frameworks that go along with the theme for each session, we like to think of ourselves as coaches or facilitators, rather than instructors, - our groups feel much more like a book club than a calculus class.

What are the topics covered?

You'll receive education and frameworks on the following topics:

Parenting Amidst Affluence - how to decide if you should offer financial lifestyle support to your kids/grandkids, and if so, what to support and how.

Empowering Young Adults for Stewardship - We provide some research backed approaches, provide a framework for thinking more clearly about family ownership roles, and also highlight some approaches to avoid.

Developing a Strong Vision for Your Family Resources- It can be challenging to develop a vision for the intended purpose of your resources, and your rising generation family members are often eager to learn your answer to this question. We will talk about ways to clarify your vision.

CrossGen Session - One of the four sessions, held later in the year, is designed to be attended by RisingGen family members as well, and the format is fun and designed to prompt increased understanding of one another's experience and goals, and to improve connection.

Do I have to confirm my attendance? And if I do attend, is it okay if I have my camera off?

By registering for access, you are making no commitment of attendance to any or all of the Wisdom in Wealth sessions, but we hope that you can make it. Due to the conversational and private nature of the calls, we do not record the sessions. These calls are not designed like the webinars where you just listen in to one directional content sharing and can easily multitask - these sessions are meant for participants to be focused, with camera on, ready to learn and interact with your peers.

Can I attend if I'm a "Middle Gen" - with a generation above and below me?

ABSOLUTELY - The sandwich generation experience can be a real squeeze! The content shared at the Wisdom in Wealth sessions will definitely apply to your situation as a Middle Gen family member. You can feel free to invite those in the generation above you to attend along with you, if that would be beneficial to you.

How many people will be in the sessions?

We register people for access to the Wisdom in Wealth sessions, and ensure that everyone signs a non-disclosure, group confidentiality form, but we don't know how many attendees will show up to any given session. That said, during each session, we carve out time for small group breakouts so that everyone gets a chance to connect with other participants and apply the information from the theme of the session.

Why are you offering this for free?

Our primary peer-based education groups have historically been focused on Rising Generation family members - and in fact we've served well over one hundred of them in our groups. But across the past several years we have received SO MANY requests both from our RisingGen clients and their parents for us to offer Leading Generation peer based education. And we, too, believe that there is risk in focusing education only on the RisingGen.That said, we know that those in the LeadingGen are pulled in a lot of directions and struggle with time/availability.

We know you've begged us to offer this education but we also know that TIME is your real commodity and we want to see how many of you are able to find the time to join. The last obstacle we want to put in the way is money, and we feel that this initiative is SO important, we are happy to offer it complimentary. So the only hurdle to gain access to this group, is that we ask each participant to- Complete the interest form on this page.- Complete a confidentiality form to protect the privacy of all attendeesAnd then we will get you added, including sharing all the calendar invitations for the sessions.

Can I invite my spouse or siblings to attend too?

Of course! It's particularly helpful for spouses to attend together so you can discuss how you can apply what you learn to your individual family.Regarding inviting siblings, we ask you to consider, before you share the invitation, if you'd benefit more from taking in this learning on your own, or if perhaps you'd most benefit from integrating this learning alongside your family members.

There's no right answer - but you're wise to explore what's best for you at this time. And to be clear, the first 3 of the 4 sessions are designed for the Leading Generation only, so you should not plan to invite your kids or grandkids to join you. These calls are purely for your own education. The 4th call of the sessions actually is a CrossGen call and you will learn more about that throughout the year.
